A few reminders from the Belleville City Gas Department, regarding gas safety.
If you ever smell the odor of gas in your home, follow these three steps:
1. Do not switch anything electric on or off, strike a match, or do anything that might cause a spark. Don’t use your telephone because telephones use small amounts of electricity that could ignite gas.
2. Have everyone evacuate immediately. Leave the doors open for ventilation. Go to a telephone away from your house and call: 785.527.2288 during business hours or 911 after hours.
3. Wait until the cause of the odor is found before returning to your home.
Before digging in your yard, call 811 to have utility lines located and marked.Share post
